Innovation Leader

The Modena Printing House was established in 1991 as one of a few private offset printing houses on the Polish coast at that time. Since its inception, it has been known for business innovation.

First 4-Colour Heidelberg Machine

We started from a 1-colour machine. However, in 1994, as a result of a growing demand for high-quality advertising prints, we purchased a 4-colour Heidelberg machine: GTO 52. Our advertising folder labelled it "the Rolls-Royce of printing machines" and it was not much of an exaggeration: the combination of its capacity with well-skilled personnel earned Modena the name of a printing house entrusted with the most demanding full-colour orders.

First Macintosh and PostScript Imagesetter

In 1992, we purchased an Apple Macintosh Quadra 9500 work station with a 20'' screen equipped with Quark and Adobe software; at that time in Poland, this was a unique combination. At the same time, as the first company on the Polish coast, we started to provide PostScript imagesetter services, operating under the D&M brand and ensuring the supply of accurately exposed films to both Modena as well as end customers. We had a new Dainippon-Screen imagesetter with max. 3600 dpi and 200 lpi.

Air Condition of Production Floors

When expanding the printing house, we decided to install a professional humidity and temperature control system. Its application minimises fluctuations of paper sheet sizes, (resulting from room humidity changes) and is necessary in view of maintaining the highest production standards. Today, only a handful of printing houses have similar systems.

Production Management System

As one of the first offset printing houses in Poland, we have introduced a comprehensive workflow-based production management system, with data input stations in every department of the company. The system also enables quick preparation of estimates and keeping their archives. The system, regularly upgraded, has been operating in our company ever since.

New 6-Colour Machine

In 2000, after a careful market analysis, we purchased a 6-colour printing machine: Heidelberg Speedmaster 74 with an additional aqueous coating and reversing system, enabling to print 4-/2-colours in a single cycle. The machine was specifically configured by Heidelberg according to our needs and had full computer control, including a touchscreen.

Herzog-Heymann Module Folding Machine with Personalisation

Since its introduction in 2006, the machine has enabled our bindery to produce complex mailing prints, with package personalisation, gluing-in of samples, inserting strips for sealing return envelopes, etc. The machine is not available anywhere else on the Polish coast.
